Computer
Goo-Roos, Inc.®
and its humble beginnings first came to be in a basement in
Bridgeville,
Pennsylvania in 1993. The founding ‘mothers’, Linda and Carla, originally chose the name, ‘Computer Services of Pittsburgh’.
Several years later, they were informed of a name conflict with another
‘Computer Services’ company; thus, Linda’s brainstorm of Computer Goo-Roos,
Inc.®
came into existence, and the newly named company was Inc.orporated on September
3, 1996.
Pat, the third partner joined the company in 1997, and by mid 1998 had made a
capital investment which enabled the company, ‘CGR’, to purchase new equipment
as well as move from the basement in Bridgeville, to its first storefront at
4323 Murray Avenue, in
Greenfield, with the theme: “No More
Basements.”
In less than one years’ time, CGR had outgrown its
Murray Avenue storefront and began the
search for a new home. On
July 27, 1999, two of the
partners, Linda and Pat, purchased an historic 107 year old building, on
8th Avenue in Munhall. After
extensive repairs/remodeling and renovations to the first floor were completed,
CGR opened its doors on
January 10, 2000 to a new
theme of: “Here We Grow Again”
Although CGR’s customer base consists primarily of local businesses and
individuals, we have served clients from across the
United States, as well as
internationally. Computer Goo-Roos, Inc.®
became a registered trademark in 1999, and the company
celebrated its 10th year in 2006.
Linda
is
the ‘Goo-Roo’,
as well as President and CEO.
As one of the founding owners, with over 16 years of experience
in computer related sales and service. Her knowledge is so vast and her
abilities so extensive, that instead of a biography, we were just going to stick
a picture of
Wonder Woman
in this space! Seriously, Linda is the visionary,
the true entrepreneurial spirit and technical expert, without whom there would
never have been such an enterprise. Linda is extremely proud of the progress her
“baby” has made.
Pat
has
been described by Linda as: “The dash that holds the ‘Goo’ and the ‘Roo’
together”. She is the Treasurer and Secretary of the company and can actually
be seen “dashing about” quite frequently. She brings over 25 years of business,
accounting, and customer service related experience to the company. In
addition, Pat gets a chance once a year to display her creative side by
composing the ‘almost’ annual CGR Christmas greeting, which she thoroughly
enjoys.
Carla
is one of the founding owners, whose specialty
area is software and networking. Although seldom seen on the front lines, i.e.
at the counter or on the phone, her talents behind the scenes have been a
critical component since the inception of the company as well as
today.
U.B., (Uncle Bob),
“My U.B.” as Linda likes to call him, is our
“Help us get out of the weeds guy,” when the requests for new builds and
hardware repairs are coming in faster than we can get them out. He has been an
asset over the past 5 years. We love our U.B. – especially since he pays us
for providing him an occasional escape from his
grandkids.
Diane
has been “lending us a hand” since 2003. Hers is the ultra
friendly voice you’ll often hear over the phone and frequently the person who
will greet you at the counter. Diane has worked at a variety of local businesses
over the years in technical and customer service roles and is fond of referring
to her contributions to the business as “therapy” in coping with the rest of her
life, which includes a “hubby” and 2 teenagers.
Jan
joined our little
“family” in 2004. She, too, was plucked from our customer base. She gives of her
time in return for valuable knowledge and experience. Her previous training with
hospital lab equipment and an aptitude for the technical has been a good
foundation for working with PC’s. Jan is also happily married, the mother of 2
teenagers and a proud band parent. |
